I bought a peach pie from Kroger on Monday, taking a gamble that the store bought dessert might be nothing more than canned pie filling in a ready-made crust. Well, as is often the case, I ate too much at dinner and felt that dessert would have put me over the edge. So Wednesday morning when I noticed that Randy was not forgoing dessert, I decided to have my share for breakfast. Nutritional tomfoolery? Perhaps. But any worse than a fruit pastry that is considered commonly acceptable breakfast fare? I think not. So – the pie? Kroger scored big – it was delicious! The peaches were not the mushy canned variety and the crust was PDG too. And I actually looked forward to getting out of bed yesterday knowing that there was another sliver available for breakfast. Yesterday I picked up another at Publix hoping for an even better pie since Publix bakery is considered by many to be superior to Kroger. The Publix pie was far inferior but don’t think for a second that it stopped me from making it 3 days in a row.
