Apparently these are being marketed toward women. I wasn’t aware that there was a need for such a thing. Does anyone else out there think that this is one of the dumbest things they have heard of in quite some time? http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/News/articleId=119336
The Week of Me December 20, 2007
Again – catching up on things that should have been posted long ago………….
I had a great birthday. It was so nice to have my Mom in town to join us – I can’t remember the last time we were in the same state for either of our birthdays. We stopped in at the Oakhurst tree lighting and sang a few carols in the the square before heading to Cafe’ Lilyfor a dinner. Lisa had arranged for a birthday dessert, complete with Sparkler. It was some sort of fluffy lemon mousse-like cake that was beyond good!
The following morning was the day of the shower, hosted by Lisa. It was obvious that she put a lot of time and effort into the planning. The food was delicious and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. Many friends and family who were unable to join us sent gifts to Lisa’s house. My Step-Mom, Donna, sent a beautiful blanket that she knitted over the course of several weeks. I didn’t even know that she knitted until then and am very honored that she brought her needles out of retirement to make something forthe Biscuit. Lisa had everyone write messages on the outside of diapers so that we would have some comic relief to look forward to when we are in the midst of the umpteenth 3am diaper changing. I have not gone through them as I want to save the surprise for when we really need some humor, but I did catch a few when I was putting the diapers away at home. I share them with you:
“STOP! Use Caution – Automatic Sprinkler May Activate!”
“Next time, wake up Randy.”
Three days later, my co-workers surprised me with a shower at the office. Randy was in on it but it wasn’t until about 30 minutes before it started that I began to suspect anything was going on. I walked into a conference room of 40+ people, a huge spread of food, and a heap of goodies for the Biscuit. I was so touched by everyone’s generosity and the huge effort that it must have taken to put such a gourmet spread together. I am still working on getting Thank You notes to everyone and feel like a turd that I haven’t gotten it done sooner. By the way – thanks to Sara, Stephen, and Carla – the Biscuit is very well stocked with butt pasteso there is no need to fret over his little bum.
So between my birthday and the two showers I felt like it was the week of me – very lucky, fortunate, and blessed to have so many caring friends, loving family, and thoughtful co-workers.
