Yesterday I had my 2nd official visit to the doctor as an expecting Mom. At one point I was considering changing to a new OB/GYN who is affiliated with Dekalb Medical Center as it is much closer to our abode than Piedmont hospital. Out of laziness and a bit of fear for the yet to be named doctor, I decided to stick with Dr. Kleiss at Piedmont. I am so glad I did. She has such a nice way about her – very knowledgeable and down to earth.
I had to wait for her a little while yesterday as one of her patients had gone into Labor just before my scheduled appointment. How could I mind? I very well could be the patient making her late for her appointments come January. I don’t know a whole lot about labor and delivery but I do know this: You can not say to a woman on the verge of delivery, “Could you hold off on labor until lunchtime? Or how about 5:00? That would be more convenient for me.”
Anyway, I got to hear the heartbeat yesterday which was so cool on many levels. At 6 weeks I saw the heartbeat as a little collection of pulsating fuzz on the ultrasound screen. Hearing it was somehow so much more real. And it was going so fast! I really don’t feel pregnant – yet anyway – so it was very reassuring to hear the heartbeat of the little person in my belly.
So what is next? I go back in 4 weeks and then in another 4 weeks at which point we can find out if we are having a boy or a girl. Can you tell I am just a little bit excited?
